Pen portrait of ‘Focus Week providers

  1. Megan Williams
Megan is a CAFOD worker who joined the Wrexham team at the Peace and Justice Centre last Year. As a former pupil it is a pleasure to welcome her back as a provider for this year’s ‘Focus Week’

  2. Katja Jewell
Resisting the temptation to call her an old friend of the department Katja has been a driving force in the Diocese for a number of years. She has visited the school regularly to present lessons during ‘Focus week’. This she does in between organising ‘Frugal Lunches’ and ‘Potato Days’ as well as keeping the Diocesan Youth retreats going during a brief hiatus without a youth worker. As always it is good that Katja can join us.

  3. Matt Jesiorski
Matt is a ‘Pax Christi’ worker. This organisation, the name means the peace of Christ, is a Christian group which works for justice and peace in the world and society. We are pleased to that Matt is able to join us for two days during the week.

  4. Bev Davies
Bev works as a development officer for TCC, a group well known at St. Richard Gwyn. They are a broad based organising group who work with the ordinary and disenfranchised members of society to help make their voice heard. Bev facilitates our own Youth TCC group and was a leading liaison in last summer’s ‘Accountability meeting’ leading up to the General election. It’s great that she can work with us during ‘Focus Week’

  5. Ruth Jones
Ruth is another friend of the school who has presented to pupils on previous ‘Focus Weeks’. She works for Samaritan’s Purse the umbrella organisation for ‘Operation Christmas Child’. She and her colleagues have spoken movingly in the past about their work and this year she will focus on their work in Haiti. Many thanks to her for joining us.

  6.  Robert Slinn
Robert visited us last year with Peter York a regular visitor with the SVP. Robert is the SVP’s youth representative and we are very much looking forward to his enthusiasm and dynamism reigniting enthusiasm in our school SVP group.

  7. Padraig Goggin, Anton Owen, Jessica Lewis
All three of these senior students went to see Pope Benedict XVI on his recent visit. Padraig as a youth representative of CAFOD, Anton with the Flint youth group and Jess was at Birmingham for the Beatification of John Henry Newman. They have volunteered to speak to some of our younger pupils about their experience which certainly left them enthused.
