Careers
St Richard Gwyn Catholic High School are at the forefront of up to the minute developments in the area of careers education. Working closely with Careers Wales we aim to develop an awareness of the many educational training and career opportunities that are available to our pupils.
Careers Education currently includes:
- PSE (Personal & Social Education)
Pupils follow a 6 unit careers programme in each of years 7-13.
- Years 10 & 11
Careers interviews take place in year 10 & 11. These are organised through questionnaires that the pupils complete. Every pupil is seen by Careers Wales in year 11, some on a number of occasions.
- Years 12 & 13
This continues into the sixth form where careers interviews take place alongside the UCAS (University Application Process) work that is done considering post 17 options.
- Year 9 & 11
Specific help and guidance is offered to pupils in their choices that they are faced with in ‘options’ in year 9 & 11.
- Year 9
Celebrate an industry day. Each year when a number of outside organisations come to school to give presentations on the world of work.
- Year 10 & 12
Have work experience during the Summer Term giving pupils the opportunity to experience first hand the world of work.
